36% of the Bulgarians would like to work from home

Thursday 6 July 2006

Thanks to the Internet, more and more people are trying to find a way to work from home, according to a survey conducted by the Romanian Neogen company which owns web sites in three East European countries and offers on-line recruitment services, dating services, classifieds, web hosting, etc.

The respondents in the survey say that the pros of working from home include the flexible working hours and better balance between job and personal life while the cons are the absence of social life and productive communication with colleagues at work.

Asked if they work from home, 1,000 Bulgarians came up with different answers. Thirty-six per cent said they would like to have such an opportunity, while 35 per cent responded that such an option is not available to them but that they see no problem in it. One in ten said they work from home, which they find a great way to work, while 8 per cent of the respondents said the negative sides of working from home outweigh the positive ones.

Eleven per cent said they have the option of working from home but prefer the office.

The survey also found that about 18 per cent of the Bulgarian population has access to the Internet.
